No doubt life during the lock-down hasn’t been easy, but there’s always a lesson to be learnt.
As we lose track of time, a lot has changed around us. The streets have forgotten about us, as they grow fond of the animals who now walk the paths we once trudged along. The skies are breathing easy, and the waters are flowing clearer, as there’s nobody around to choke them anymore. The songbirds sing a little louder, and the bark of the dogs echoes through the streets now. Perhaps it has always been this way, and we are the ones who have been silenced.
“ The doctors we are ostracizing, are working for us day in and day out.”
As we desperately try to recall what day it is, a lot has changed inside our homes. The four walls of our houses, the rarely used dining table, and the carrom board on the shelf have no recollection of the last time we fought, as everyone learns to be more considerate towards one another. The birds who had flown away long ago, have made their way back to the nest. The elder brother hasn’t been scolded for weeks now, and his younger sister is asleep, nestled at his side.
No doubt life during the lock-down hasn’t been easy, but there’s always a lesson to be learnt. The doctors we are ostracizing, are working for us day in and day out. The government we question everyday, hasn’t slept in a long while, and the laborers we abuse so comfortably, haven’t seen their families. Lastly, the Earth we exploit, because we sit atop the food chain, is happier without us. Let that sink in.
