WHAT IF?

What if I tell you that yes, I am a rape victim,

Would you please, for once, let me live my dream?

What if I tell you all my secrets,

Would you still be my friend?

What if I tell you the story of my scars,

Would you take out time from your trends?

What if I tell you that I’m a part of the #metoo women,

Would you consider me clean?

What if I tell you that yes, I am a rape victim,

Would you please, for once, let me live my dream?

I have been told to shut up often,

By people near and dear,

But I don’t understand why,

Why should this turn into my fear?

Am I a burden on my family,

Well, that’s what the society believes,

Why do they fail to realize,

It isn’t easy to come where I have reached.

Let me ask you one question, ‘Dear Society,’

Am I just nothing in your eyes?

Let me tell you something too,

I am the glory of my parent’s house, the princess in their life.

You’ve said enough already,

Now will you just back off?

We don’t need more of your advice,

We’re ready for the final takeoff!

The distance is long, the journey tough,

But we’re not looking back,

The girls have taken charge,

The demons will come back on track.
